A disease of the spinal cord that slowly damages the nerves, leading to weakness and loss of coordination in the back legs. Over time, pets may struggle to walk.
A loss of control over the bladder and/or bowels, causing unintentional leaking or soiling.
A condition where the discs between the vertebrae weaken or slip out of place. This can pinch the spinal cord or nerves, causing pain, weakness, or even paralysis.
A problem affecting the lower back where the last lumbar vertebra meets the sacrum. Changes in this area can compress the nerves that supply the hind limbs and tail, leading to pain, weakness, or mobility issues.
Sudden bursts of abnormal electrical activity in the brain. They can look like shaking, twitching, collapsing, or episodes where the pet seems “spaced out.”
A sudden disruption of blood flow to part of the brain/spine, causing nerve damage. This can lead to sudden weakness, imbalance, confusion, or changes in behaviour, depending on the area affected.
A disorder affecting the balance centre of the inner ear or brain. Pets may suddenly develop a head tilt, wobbliness, or rapid eye movements, often looking as though they are dizzy or drunk.
